The Museum, Citadel, Old Cairo, and the Bazaar
If you only have a day to experience the diversity of Egypt's history and need to do some shopping as well, this day was made for you. We'll pick you up from your hotel with a guide and head to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, where you’ll be amazed by a collection of 120,000 artifacts, mummies, statues, jewelry, paintings, tools, weapons and more from Ancient Egypt. Then, we’ll take you deeper into Cairo, Old Cairo, where you’ll experience the Hanging Church, the most famous and oldest church in Egypt. After that, we’ll head towards the Citadel of Saladin, which was the centerpiece of Cairo's defense protecting the city from the heights of the rocky cliffs that overlooked it. You’ll visit the main attraction here, the Great Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha, an marvel of majestic modern architecture. The highlight of the Citadel is the view that overlooks Cairo and from there you can see why the city earned its nickname the “City of a Thousand Minarets.” After you’ve been amazed we’ll head back into the city to give you a chance to experience and shop at Khan El-Khalili, the world's oldest bazaar market. Once you have bought your souvenirs and enjoyed the old Mamluk architecture, we’ll serve you lunch at a local restaurant, then take you back to your hotel.
